OUR SERVICES

Acoustic Project Design

Kilstrom-0.jpg

The biggest risk in the construction process relates to lack of communication. We are constantly working on replacing text in favour of drawings to facilitate understanding and allow changes to be made quickly and scalable. Since 2022, we have been using REVIT for our sound drawings with positive response from the project group and especially from Architects and Designers.

We always start projects by producing a good basis for further planning. We have experience from most building systems for various applications (different building types) and know what combinations that works. Therefore, we can guide you to make wise frame and system choices depending on the design of the building and the architect's intentions - e.g. visible wood!

With our long expertise, we excel at pinpointing the origins of diverse noise-related issues and devising effective solutions. Our capabilities encompass a wide range, including cost efficient solutions minimizing sound transmission between adjacent rooms. Don't hesitate to approach us with novel and intricate challenges in wooden buildings! We enjoy the opportunity to tackle new and complex problems.

Verifying Sound Measurement

During the building process, we strongly recommend to carry out early site visits and measurements in pre-prepared test room to verify the building system. By doing early measurements, we can make sure that the actual building system performance corresponds to our calculations and estimations. From these early measurements on site, possible optimization measures could be approved reducing the building cost.

When the building is near finalization, we strongly recommend that verifying sound measurements should be made by an acoustician with a good understanding about lightweight buildings but also the project itself. Knowledge regarding the project itself is important to make sure that the most sensitive partitions are selected and also to secure that the continuous improvement process is secured.

Therefore, we always encourage you to contact the acoustician involved in the building design to also carry out the verifying measurements such as sound insulation, traffic noise, and noise from installations

Vibration analysis

Vibration-Kij

We provide vibration analysis and specialist support during the design of buildings, with a focus on vibrations generated by technical equipment and how these vibrations interact with and are transmitted through the building structure.

Our work includes calculations and assessments of vibration from installations and equipment, helping to identify potential risks and develop appropriate solutions at an early stage of the project. This can include evaluating vibration levels, transmission through the building system and the need for vibration isolation or other mitigation measures.

For existing buildings, we also carry out vibration measurements and troubleshooting to identify vibration sources and transmission paths. Based on the results, we assess the likely causes and provide recommendations for suitable measures to reduce unwanted vibrations.

Environmental noise

We carry out environmental noise assessments for new developments, existing buildings and planning projects. The analyses can include noise from road traffic, railways, industry and other external sources.

Using noise calculations, measurements and evaluation against applicable guidelines and requirements, we assess how noise affects buildings and their surroundings. The results can be used to support site planning, façade design and the development of suitable noise mitigation measures.

Our goal is to identify effective solutions early in the design process and provide clear technical documentation for continued planning and permitting.

Research and Development

Erik-PhD.jpg

Research and development are an important part of our work at Acouwood. We combine extensive practical experience from building projects with research in building acoustics, particularly within timber and lightweight construction.

Our team has been involved in national and international research projects and has contributed to scientific papers, conference publications and technical articles covering topics such as sound transmission in timber buildings, flanking transmission, low-frequency impact sound and acoustic calculation methods.

We also support manufacturers and developers in the development and optimization of building systems and products. Through calculations, laboratory and field measurements, and analysis of acoustic performance, we help identify how different solutions can be improved and adapted for use in real buildings.

Our close connection between research and consultancy allows new knowledge and methods to be applied directly in our projects, while practical challenges from the building industry provide an important basis for continued research and development.

Lectures and Education

Sharing knowledge is an important part of our work at Acouwood. Our team has extensive experience in teaching, lectures and professional training within building acoustics, environmental noise and timber construction.

We offer lectures and educational programmes tailored to different audiences and levels of experience, from introductory acoustics to more specialised topics related to sound insulation, timber buildings and practical acoustic design. Our courses combine theoretical knowledge with experience from real building projects, measurements and research.

Several members of our team have held lectures at universities, conferences and industry events, and we also share knowledge through seminars, workshops and digital educational material.

Whether you are looking for a single lecture, a customised training session or a more comprehensive course, we can adapt the content to the needs of your organisation and the challenges you encounter in your projects.
